Colli Euganei Wine Route guided tour

The Colli Euganei Wine Route is a fascinating food and wine itinerary that crosses one of Veneto’s most evocative landscapes. The Euganean Hills are volcanic reliefs formed approximately 35 million years ago, which, thanks to the microclimate, slope exposure, and soil composition, offer ideal conditions for quality viticulture.

The Colli Euganei DOC area was officially recognized by Ministerial Decree in 1969, while the Protection Consortium was founded in 1972. Since 2010, the territory has also boasted a prestigious DOCG, the Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio, an identity symbol of these hills.

A region to savor

Along the Wine Route, which crosses and surrounds the entire area, you will find villages of extraordinary historical and scenic value such as:

  • Arquà Petrarca
  • Galzignano Terme
  • Torreglia
  • Baone
  • Cinto Euganeo
  • Teolo

The route is dotted with wineries and farmhouses ready to welcome visitors for guided tastings of wines and typical local products: extra virgin olive oil, honey, cured meats, and Euganean culinary specialties, all immersed in stunning hilly panoramas.

The wines of the Euganean Hills

Among the most representative productions of the denomination, we find:

  • Serprino, fresh and aromatic
  • Colli Euganei Rosso, balanced and structured
  • whites based on Moscato

The Fior d’Arancio DOCG is offered in three versions:

  • dry
  • sparkling
  • passito

According to tradition, the ancient Fior d’Arancio grape variety arrived in these hills after a long journey from the East, probably from Syria or Mesopotamia, finding an ideal environment in the Euganean Hills to best express its aromatic characteristics.
