The Chess Game Costume Museum is located inside the Lower Castle of Marostica and is dedicated to one of the most celebrated historical events in Veneto: the Living Chess Game.

The guided tour leads through the halls of the main floor, frescoed and furnished with the authentic historical costumes used during the reenactment, offering complete immersion in the Renaissance atmosphere of the city.

The Living Chess Game

The historic Living Chess Game takes place in September in even-numbered years, in Piazza Castello, directly in front of the Lower Castle.
The event stages a spectacular performance with over 500 participants in period costume, inspired by the legendary chivalric challenge of 1454.

Tour Route

The guided tour of the museum continues beyond the exhibition halls and includes:

  • access to the Keep Tower
  • the evocative walkway along the ramparts, with panoramic views over the walled city
  • the vast attic space of approximately 500 square meters, which completes the historical and architectural route

This itinerary allows you to understand not only the event, but also the defensive and symbolic structure of the Lower Castle.
