Vicenza is the town of the talented Andrea Palladio, the most worldwide influential Italian architect, who transformed the town into the “pearl of the Renaissance”. The young stonecutter born in Padua, moved with his family to Vicenza where he was discovered by the scholar Giangiorgio Trissino and started his successful career.
The historical center of Vicenza offers 23 masterpieces designed by the architect, who was perfectly able to meet the needs of the local aristocracy feeling indipendent from the Gothic Venetian Republic.
Our guides will be pleased to accompany you in 2 hours tour to see Palladio’s highlights: the Palladian Basilica, the Olympic Theatre, the Captain loggia and Palazzo Chiericati.
Being a small and quiet town, in Vicenza you could enjoy pleasant walking tours and taste the famous staple “the Vicentine cod with polenta” or the sweet Torcolato wine from the Pre-Alps hills.
